Adam Little

Studio for User Experiences

I design tools and platforms that empower people to take action in pursuit of a better life — both for themselves and for others.

I do this by partnering with businesses to frame problems, learn from their communities, and prototype new approaches.

Why I do it is simple. Value is created when business and technology meet people where they are.

Launching a digital-first bank for small businesses

ClearSpend’s founding team had the vision, technical know-how, and sector expertise, but needed someone to help them bring the idea to life. From a proof-of-concept prototype to a functional product, I helped them design a product that made the expense management process simpler for small businesses.

Making global supply chain data accessible to all

Open Supply Hub uses open data to map global supply chains, impacting issues like greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and modern slavery. I led a UX team that made supply chain data more accessible to users around the world, and easier for people to contribute data of their own.

Uncovering new opportunities for early literacy development

Springboard Collaborative reduces the literacy gap through programs and services that foster family engagement with schools. To help them find new approaches for Pre-K, I led a qualitative research study to frame potential design solutions based on the input of Pre-K families and educators.

Centering equity in a community design process

The team at the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County wanted more tools for centering equity in their community-based work. I was part of a team at GRID Impact who designed and facilitated a hands-on workshop series and equity-centered design toolkit.

Building digital services that meet the needs of Californians

I was part of a cross-agency team in the California state government that prototyped and launched the California Design System, a tool that makes it easy for state teams to build digital services that meet the needs of Californians.

Facilitation & Coaching

I believe design can be a catalyst that fosters collaboration, unlocks diverse perspectives, and empowers people to make change in their community.

Design helps navigate through ambiguity and come out on the other side with clarity and action. It's how I create with intention and purpose.

01. Frame

Start by getting clear on what problem we're here to solve.

02. Understand

Uncover data-driven insights that turn ambiguous problems into actionable opportunities.

03. Prototype

Explore new ideas by sketching and making. Refine ideas by sharing and testing them with others.

04. Build

When you're ready, we'll help your team turn design into real products.

Create together

Working collectively is key to unlocking creative ingenuity. The best way to tackle tough problems is by hearing everyone out.

Honor craft, trust instinct

Good quality starts with caring about how things look and work. Follow your instincts, they are built on a foundation of well-earned successes and failures.

Don't mistake process for formula

Invite zigs and zags. Go down the unexpected path. That’s how worthwhile solutions are discovered.

Set priorities

Focus and prioritization are paramount. To know what solution will have the highest impact, understand what problem is the most critical.

Spread the empathy

Approach every meeting and deliverable like a designer to create a human-centered experience for all colleagues and stakeholders.

Check your bias

Strive to create genuine change by being accountable to personal biases. As facilitators, create space for more perspectives.

I collaborate with organizations like these to help them frame problems, learn from their communities, and prototype new approaches.
